Olio Festival is a multi-media arts festival locally curated and self-financed by promoters & lovers of independent Music, Comedy, Film & Art within the city of Vancouver. This event is still fairly young returning for its second year with all new line-up of talent, arts and film.
The schedule is packed with events spread across 3 nights with headliners like Chad VanGaalen, The Very Best, Tanlines, Shout Out Out Out & Toy Selectah and more.
The ticket price is quite cheap with $25+ applicable fees for a day pass or $60 for an all weekend pass.

Lights will be performing at the Vogue Theatre on October 20th! For those who are not familiar with Lights, she’s a Juno Award-winning Canadian singer and songwriter who grew up in Ontario! She is known for composing and performing electropop music with major hits like “Drive My Soul”, “Ice”, “Saviour”, and “February Air”. Listen to some of her hit songs below.

Don’t miss the third annual Outdoor Movie Night in Yaletown on the 40’ x 20’ BIG screen featuring a classic film from the 80’s for everyone to enjoy. The movie is always Top Secret…but “McFly” always knows! Bring your own blanket or folding chair, and your own flashlight. In case of rain, the free Outdoor Movie Night in Yaletown will happen the following Sunday on August 15th.

It’s back again for another year of gongshow-ness. On Saturday August 14, 2010 from 12-4pm, you will see a crowd of people and cheese rolling down the steep slopes of Blackcomb Mountain. Just watch this video to see what I’m talking about!
If you are interested in becoming a cheese-chaser, it will be base don a first-come first-served basis. You can sign-up on the hill from 11am on Saturday, August 14th. More information can be found at Canadian Cheese Rolling website.

The parade is happening once again this year, and its on August 1st at 12pm. Come out and celebrate diversity, have a fun filled time looking at the floats, and end up at Sunset beach to check out the tents.
The parade will start off on Robson & Bute, and finishes at Pacific & Beach ave. There will be a festival site at Sunset Beach, so go and check it out!

If you missed the Fusion Festival at Surrey’s Holland Park, don’t worry! There will be another cultural event on August 1st. The Jamaican Festival will be from 10am to 7pm.

Presented by the Atrux Collective, Jazz Trumpeter Clinton Patterson makes his Vancouver debut, accompanied by the Radiophone Society (Josh Charney – Piano, Graham Chapman – Bass) with his own unique blend of jazz, blues and soul.
